Haiku Consulting takes its inspiration from the Japanese form of poetry written in three short lines and celebrated for its ability to express profound meaning with a few choice words. Infinitely creative, Haiku works within a structure.
Its brevity compels the author to go straight to the heart of the matter and express it with clarity and precision. No waste, no padding – just crystal clear articulation. Each word is chosen with exquisite care – not only to convey information but, more importantly, to engage the reader and evoke an emotional response through imagery and association. Patricia Donegan talks about haiku creating “heightened awareness of the world around us and how, in that small, transient period, the greater essence of our lives is reflected”.
How lovely. And how exciting to see the parallels with a strategic communications consultancy which aims to bring these principles to businesses and brands.
Haiku Consulting opens its doors for business as the year closes on 2016. A year which has seen the world rebelling against the establishment as the UK elects to leave Europe and as Donald Trump steps out of reality TV and into the White House. A year in which more than a few of us might be asking “What’s it all about Alfie?” Businesses are charting choppy seas right now and, as always in times of great change, need strong guiding principles to stay on track. Now more than ever, organisations need to pause for thought, look deep inside and take a look at those principles. What is the purpose of this business? What is driving us, where are we going and how do we get there?
These are the questions which Haiku Consulting aims to answer. Like our eponymous poetry, we seek to dive deep into the meaning of our client’s businesses and brands and understand the purpose written there. What was this business born to do? And when we understand that completely, we choose the words to express it perfectly – not just speaking outwards to the world of customers – but also inside, to engage and galvanise the hearts and minds of the organisation’s people, the ambassadors who make the business live and breathe.
We are thrilled to be here at this exciting time. Let the haiku begin.
